Marvin Kay Stieneke

August 6, 1941 — December 21, 2018

Marvin Kay Stieneke, the son of Kenneth and Viola (McGregor) Stieneke was born on August 6, 1941, near Quimby, IA. His childhood years were spent on a farm near Quimby. He attended school and graduated from Quimby High School.

 Marvin was united in marriage to Judy Huffman shortly after high school, and resided in Washta, IA where together they raised 7 children. He started his own trucking business, Stieneke Trucking in 1961 and operated the business passionately until he retired. He logged in countless miles over his career hauling livestock and grain all over the Midwest. Marv also enjoyed buying/selling cattle for many years. He ensured to always make time to attend the Saturday sale at the Denison Livestock Auction. He enjoyed horses and taking his grandchildren “truck’in”.

 On Friday, December 21, 2018, Marvin passed away at Cherokee Specialty Clinic in Cherokee at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Viola Stieneke; one daughter, Peggy Stieneke; one infant sister; and one brother-in-law, Lyle Cave.

 He is survived by his children, Nita Stieneke of Washta, IA, Wanda Stieneke of Cherokee, IA, Sis Stieneke of Washta, IA, Susan Allen (Shawn) of Wakefield, KS, Bryan Stieneke and special friend, Amy Johnson of Washta, IA, and Rachel Stieneke of Holstein, IA; grandchildren: Kelsie (Tanner) Carlson, Cassandra (Noah) Laible, Jessica (Don) Hand, Boomer (Kassie) Klaschen, Coy Zollmon (Mackenzie Mandernach), Alicia (Will) Carpenter, Baylee Allen, Dustin Stieneke (Emily Reinking), Brittany Stieneke, Ethan Bruning, Lacey Stieneke, Riley Stieneke, and Keagan Stieneke; eight great-grandchildren;  one sister, Mary Cave of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friends.

SERVICES

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2018, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2018, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
INTERMENT
Silver Township Cemetery
