Mary Lue Kuhrts

July 29, 1937 — February 3, 2018

Mary Lue (Regennitter) Kuhrts went home to Our Lord February 3rd, 2018. She fought bravely against respiratory illness for most of her life.
Mary was born near Washta, Iowa July 29, 1937, the 14th of 19 children born to Albert and Mae (Coon) Regennitter. She was close with many of her siblings and had many friends while at school. She graduated Willow school in 1955. She was united in marriage in 1957 and was blessed with three children: Cynthia Lue, Tamara Mae and Martin Dean Bumann.
She remarried in 1980 to the love of her life, Loren Kuhrts. They made their home in Washta and Quimby and she worked by his side in their grain bin building business until his death in 1999.
Mary took great joy in working with people. Operating a cafe, first in Washta and later in Quimby, gave her the chance to combine her loves of cooking and socializing. She was a caretaker for several people, treating them with love, compassion and respect. Mary loved to dance, paint and garden and in later years was thrilled by electronic puzzle games and Facebook. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Loren J. Kuhrts; brothers Glen, Kenny, Morey, Don and Jimmy Regennitter and Kenneth, Clayton, Fred and Harold Hollingshead; sisters Una Kane, Ruby Hollingshead, Annabelle Paulsen and Beth Nelson; grandson Wesly Grohe; and great-granddaughter, Serenity Bumann.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cindy (Lyle) Hanner and Tammy (Mike) Olson of Quimby, and Marty of Washta; siblings Dorie, Dean ( Vicky), Vern, Beverly and Al "Jr"; grandchildren: Harlan (Erin) Bumann of Quimby, Christi and Toby of Des Moines, Heather of Cherokee and Beth of Alta; great-grandchildren: Lily, Cealey, Remini, Izik, Tate, Gage, Devontez, Parker, Aria and Braxtyn; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
