Nancy Lue Maurer

Nancy Wiese Maurer born July 19, 1945, to Lambert Wiese and Shirley Moltmann Wiese at Battle Creek, Iowa. She grew up in rural Ida Grove, was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. She attended Ida Grove School graduating in 1963.

Music was her 1^st love even as a child, joining the church junior choir and then the senior choir. She worked for Bickley Motors in Ida Grove when Ron came to work there in November, 1971, and they married April 1, 1972. They moved to Cherokee in 1974. One son Stanley was born in 1976. She worked for Pennys, Cherokee State Bank, and Cherokee Ford Tractor. She and Ron went into the auto repair business in 1984 where she was the greeter, secretary, bookkeeper, parts purchaser, and whatever needed done around the shop. They were able to travel Australia, New Zealand, and many countries in Europe.

They retired in January of 2008, and wintered in Florence, AZ for 15 years. She belonged to two vocal music groups there. She was a block leader. She was known as the “Movie Lady”.  Showing a movie every Friday night for anyone that wished to attend.

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, Nancy passed away at her home at the age 0f 77. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lambert and Shirley Wiese. Her resurrection place will be the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, IA.

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Ron; son, Stanley Maurer and his wife Alecia of Cherokee, IA; grandson, Alex Maurer and his fiancé, Jordan Miller of Shawnee, KS; granddaughter, Hailee Maurer of Cherokee, IA; as well as other relatives and friends.
