Naomi 'LaVere' Dugan

May 19, 1925 — July 25, 2012

Naomi LaVere (Stevenson) Dugan, the daughter of Frank and Fern (Courtright) Stevenson, was born on May 19, 1925, in Quimby, IA She spent her childhood years in Quimby, and graduated from Quimby High School. Following graduation, she moved to Sioux City, IA, where she worked for a doctor. LaVere was united in marriage to Raymond Dugan, Jr., on February 15, 1947 at the Epithany Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Nebraska and Iowa, during which time Ray was an electrician. They settled in Cherokee, IA, in 1964. They were blessed with two children, Dan and Diane. In addition to caring for her family and her home, LaVere enjoyed designing floral arrangements and baking. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. LaVere was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Kay and Kendell; two sisters, Violet and Myrna. Survivors include her son, Dan Dugan and his wife, Sharon of Quimby, and daughter Diane Stubbe and her husband, Denny of Spirit Lake, IA; two grandchildren, Amy (Tony)Wurth of Remsen, IA, and Andy Dugan of Emerson, NE; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Brady of Remsen; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
A memorial service for LaVere will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.
