Robert "Bob" Manning

August 22, 1956 — February 28, 2020

Robert Scott Manning was born in Le Mars, Iowa on August 22, 1956, to Jean (Dennler) and Milo F. Manning. His childhood years were spent in Le Mars, and he graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1974. He attended a few semesters at NWICC in Sheldon, where he studied drafting.

Bob spent several years working for Wells Blue Bunny, both during and after his high school years. He was later employed by K-Products (Staples) for over 20 years, as a collator in the print shop. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed doing "handyman work". Whether it was roofing, putting in windows, or helping friends and family with various projects, he was always a willing and able helper.

On August 23, 1980, Bob was united in marriage to Ginny Gravenish. They made their home in the Oyens and Remsen area. Their family soon grew to include two children, Ashley in 1983, and Scott in 1986. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his kids' sporting events. He was an outdoorsman at heart, and spent as much time as he could going fishing and hunting.

After having survived several debilitating accidents and injuries over the years, Bob died unexpectedly at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center on Friday, February 28, 2020. He left behind the gift of life given selflessly through the Iowa Donor Network. Those who went on before him were his parents; his canine hunting companion Gunner; brothers Tom, Nick and Dale; his father-in-law, Clete Gravenish and brother-in-law, Frany Gravenish.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ginny; his daughter, Ashley and her husband, J.C. Kelley and daughters Mila and Collins of Golden, CO, son, Scott Manning and his wife, Kristin and sons Owen and Mason of Ankeny, IA; siblings, Donna Mamey of California, Milo Dean Manning of Le Mars, IA, and Larry (Edz) Manning of Frederic, WI; his many in-laws on both the Manning and Gravenish sides; numerous nieces and nephews, and his constant sidekicks, Remmy and Boston.
