Roxanne Kay Bute

Roxanne Kay Bute, the daughter of Vincent and Ilene (Fangman) Sholly, was born April 3, 1953, in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cherokee, where she attended school.

On December 5, 1975, she was united in marriage to Bill Bute. They lived and worked in Oregon, until moving to Cherokee in 1985. Roxanne worked as a nurse aid at the Cherokee Villa until her health forced her to retire.

Roxanne enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and fishing. She also liked to keep track of friends and family through Facebook. She was a very caring person and always made sure that her neighbors were doing alright. She was rarely seen without her two favorite things, Pepsi and barbeque chips. She loved her pet companion Sasha. . Most of all, she loved the time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

On Thursday, February 10, 2022, Roxanne passed away at Mercy One in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Ilene Sholly; her in-laws, Earl and Earlyne Bute; grandson, Skyler Carey; and sister-in-law, Sharon Clausen.

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Bill Bute of Cherokee, IA; children, Rhonda Bute of Paullina, IA, Brenda Bute of Cherokee, IA, Terry Bute of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren Taylor Bute of Cherokee, IA, Kyle Carey of Cherokee, IA; Kaylyne Booher and Tristin Booher of Cherokee, IA, Gracie Tuttle of Sioux City, IA, Landon Todd of Washta, IA, and Khendyl Bute of Cherokee, IA; great-grandchildren, Carter and Connor Baatz of Cherokee, IA; siblings, Louie (Lori) Sholly of Sedalia, MO, Ed (Max) Sholly of Osage, IA, Mike (Donna) Sholly of Osage, IA, and Deb (Tim) Tyler of Elizabeth, LA; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home.
