Ruth Jacobson-Allen

January 16, 1939 — July 22, 2021

Ruth J. Gange, the daughter of Alfred and Pearl (Odle) Gange was born January 16, 1939 in Mellette, SD.  She attended school in Redfield, SD.  Ruth was united in marriage to Robert Dale Jacobson in Huron, SD.  To this union, three children were born; Wayne Allan, Sandra Lou and Michael Harold.  Robert passed away in 1990.

 Ruth married Robert Allen in 1996.  They made their home in rural Aurelia.  Ruth was a bookkeeper for many years at Motor Parts Sales and retired in 1997.  She was an active member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in which she was a Christ Care Equipper, Lay visitor to nursing home residents, Elderly Peer Counselor and involved in several ladies groups at church including Shepherds Heart.   Ruth was also a Hospice volunteer. 

 Ruth enjoyed camping, traveling, golfing, reading and mahjong.  She was a proud mom, grandma, and great-grandma.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

 On July 22, 2021, Ruth passed away peacefully at Accura Healthcare in Cherokee, IA after a brief illness at the age of 82.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert, sister Gloria Johnson; brother-in-law Allan Johnson; brother-in-law Clifford Wipf; brother-in-law Raymond Long; brother Robert Gange; nephew Danny Gange; and step son-in-law Jason Sammons.

 Ruth is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Wayne (Brenda) Jacobson; Sandra (Mark) Wold; Michael (Cara) Jacobson; two step-daughters, Jennifer Sammons and Heidi (Ryan)Woltman; Grandchildren: Erica (Kyle) Schultz, Ethan (Marissa) Jacobson, Nathaniel (Jessica) Wold, Tiffany Wold, Tonia Wold, Carter Jacobson, Ashlee Sammons, Colton Woltman and Bethany Woltman; Great-Grandchildren: Ava Feldick, Landon Wold, Mason Jacobson, Evelyn Wold, Waylon Wilson, Juliana Jacobson, Audra Schultz, Mila Wilson, and Anya Schultz; brother, Lloyd (Norma) Gange, sister Rosetta Long, sister-in-law Debbie Gange, sister Corinne Wipf, sister Barbara (Skip) Martin, step-sister Beverly (John) DeFranco; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2021, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Public visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, with family present at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.

Oak Hill Cemetery
