Terry Edward Langholdt

June 12, 1945 — October 8, 2019

Terry Edward Langholdt was born June 12, 1945 in LeMars, Iowa to Clarence and Jeanette (Arens) Langholdt. His family moved to Cherokee in 1957 where he attended Immaculate Conception High School and graduated in 1963. After graduation, Terry enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Adak, Alaska. In 1968, he met Dianna Eide. After talking all night, one month and nine days later they were engaged and the two were united in marriage on June 22, 1968, in Cherokee.

As a Fareway man for many years, Terry and his family moved around the state. From Cherokee, he was transferred to Nevada, Algona, LeMars, Decorah, and Creston. After leaving Fareway, Terry took a job at Joyce’s Grocery store in Sheldon and then Motor Parts in Cherokee, which brought him back to his hometown. Once back in Cherokee, Terry worked the counter at Motor Parts, delivered parts, and worked the Holstein and Marcus stores when others were on vacation. He made a brief return to the grocery store as the frozen food manager at Hy-Vee, but the cold was difficult to work in so he returned to Motor Parts before retiring in 2007.

Terry enjoyed playing basketball in high school. As an adult, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Terry was a member of various bowling and golf leagues over the years. He continued on the Langholdt tradition of playing cards and enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law. Terry also enjoyed watching Westerns and NCIS.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jeanette Langholdt, his mother and father in-law Evelyn and Art Eide, his sister-in-law Ruby Eide, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dianna (Eide) Langholdt, their three children Angelia (Mike) Mayer of Marcus; Chad (Jami) Langholdt of Sioux City; Tricia (Joe) Vannatta of Cherokee; 8 grandchildren: Courtney Lemke, Kane (Alyssa) Carlson, Trace Agnitsch, Alaina Mayer, Jadyn Langholdt, Asher Vannatta, Søren Vannatta, and Felix Vannatta; 4 great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Brielle, Zayden, Dakota; brothers: Dennis (Mary Kaye) Langholdt of Boone, Randy (Judy) Langholdt of Surprise, AZ, Rick (Dot) Langholdt of Iowa City; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
