Thomas (Tom) Glassmaker was born on September 28, 1949, in Cherokee, IA to Ray and Helen (Steichen) Glassmaker.  He grew up on the family farm south of Cleghorn, IA.  Tom attended school at Maryhill and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee, IA.  He then enrolled at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA.  He was in one of the first classes to include males; a real challenge for the Franciscan nuns.

Tom worked construction in Phoenix, AZ before returning to Iowa.  He worked at IBP and lived with his sister Mary’s family.  Tom returned to the Cleghorn farm and eventually established the Glassmaker Bros. Farming Partnership.  Tom loved farming until his last days.

Tom was a lifelong Catholic.  He had a deep devotion to the Virgin Mary and the Rosary.  He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Milwaukee Bucks and Notre Dame football.

Tom was devoted to our parents during their last years, there whenever he was needed.  They looked forward to daily visits with him and his beloved dog, Skippy.

Tom died peacefully on his farm on August 16, 2023, after years of various health issues at the age of 73.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Helen; his sister, Mary Dickes; brother, Bob; brother-in-law, Marc Mallory and his beloved dog, Skippy.

Tom is survived by his eleven siblings: Phyllis (Bob) Walton, Diane (Doug) Henke, Bill (Violet) Glassmaker, Joe (Pat) Glassmaker, Joan Nicolai, Michelle (Rich) Moret, Janet (Mike) Kruse, David (Michelle) Glassmaker, Pete Glassmaker, Christine (Jamie) Wankum, and Elizabeth Mallory; brother-in-law, Tom Dickes, sister-in-law, Sherill Glassmaker, many loving nephews, nieces, and special friend, Monica.
